Cabin Changes

We have been working hard on our cabin new home since we moved here in July. Craig retired at the end of August, and he is enjoying his new role as general contractor here. Since I work long days, it's been nice to have him holding down the fort at home. Here are a few pictures of the work in progress.

We finally got rid of the door to nowhere - the old kitchen door on the upper level.

The inside isn't pretty yet, but we have plans to enlarge the kitchen now that the door is gone.
Here's our beautiful new cedar ceiling on the family room - or should we call it our living room? It's almost impossible to get a good picture of the living room.

In the day time there's too much light, and in the evening we have great lighting, but not for pictures. But you can get the idea. We have carpeted the room, and added tile in one corner where the wood stove will be eventually. (It's the corner where the wooden green tree is in the picture.)  We also carpeted our bedroom but it's not a very big room, so it's hard to get good pictures.

Here's our guest room/craft room. I can't wait to spend some time at my craft table with those wonderful corner windows near by!

Finally, here's Craig's cairn. The rocks are not attached to one another - they're just perfectly balanced.
Isn't that cool?

This fall we hope to have a garage built - we're having it built by someone else so that we can have it done by winter. Over the winter we hope to work on window trim in all the new rooms, and we'd like to design our ktichen utilizing our existing cabinets but adding a few more, taking out the peninsula and adding an island. It's fun to dream, plan and do these projects!
