My Favorite Hymn (right now)

These words have been in my mind and heart for several days now, and they just become more and more meaningful to me. I hope they bless you today too.

Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I'm come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

WBR

Today is the last performance of Wastebasket Revue and I am sad. I have enjoyed every part of this show- from the rehearsals every Monday night since December, to the last 6 performances. I have gotten met new people in the school district and have had lots of fun.
So, the question is , what do I do now, to fill some of the evening hours while Craig is gone during the week? I have been challenged by the stories I have been reading each day from Daily Good. There are lots of people in this world doing amazing things for others less fortunate. I want to find a niche where I can help someone else. It's time to start looking for that niche.

Consider it all joy!

"Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass.
It’s about learning to dance in the rain."
Author unknown

In my devotions this morning I read James 1:2 and I remembered the quote above from another devotion. Life is all about attitude, isn't it? God wants us to:
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, [2] when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

He wants us to learn from all of our experiences. I am going to try to learn to dance in the rain, and see what God is trying to show me.

It's Spring!

I think spring has finally arrived in Minnesota. I can't wait to get out in the yard and start working in my garden. Every morning I peek out my window to see if I have any flowers coming up. Last fall I planted over 100 bulbs. I hope some come up!!
I am excited because we are having a deck built this spring. I turned in the paperwork to the city on Monday. I am just waiting for a call that the permit has been approved. The builder is ready to start next week! I can't wait to have breakfast on the deck on the weekends - to use our BBQ grill out there for supper, and just to enjoy our back yard.

Test of faith

I am still waiting to find out about my job for next year. It is SO hard to wait!!! I have found out that I may have a choice between two jobs, but neither looks very good. I am trying to be thankful for being the secretary at my school for the past two and a half years. It was such a great place to work. The staff was like family, and the parents and students were wonderful to work for. I am trying to trust God, that He will take care of me - that whatever job I get He will be there with me - that it will be all right. I am trying be thankful that I have a job. I think that this next year will be a lesson in trusting Him. I just wish it was easier!!

Hello again!

I realize it's been a long time since I've blogged. Mostly, it's been because I've been busy - but it's also about not knowing what to write about. Not that there isn't anything happening in my life, but rather which things should I share. So here's the short version:
I am part of a group called Swingin' Eds. We're a group of educators who sing and dance together. We're part of a special variety show called the Wastebasket Review. This show raises money for college scholarships. This week was the first week of the show. We had Swingin' Eds rehearsal Monday night, dress rehearsals Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and shows Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I've had a great time. 13 years ago I went to my first Wastebasket Revue and wanted so badly to be a part of the Swingin' Eds. But I was a mom with four children, three of whom played hockey. There was no time in my schedule for me. But now the kids are grown, and I am so happy to be in Wastebasket Revue.
If you haven't ever seen the show, come on out next weekend! The tickets are only $10 - a great deal for a good show and the money goes to a good cause!
In addition to the show and working full time, I also spent time visiting my dad who spent a week in the hospital. Thankfully he's doing much better. He is now at a Care Center for some rehab before going back home to his apartment.
