The sacred in everyday

I have been reading a new book by Robin Jones Gunn (which I will tell you more about in a future post) and she brings up the idea of sacredness in the everyday. One of the characters in the book begins to look at the world around her in a new way. She takes her time eating food and really starts to notice and appreciate the tastes and textures. She appreciates things she sees - just common ordinary things. Etc...
So I wonder, how often do we appreciate the simple things in our lives - the sunshine in the morning, the smell of coffee, the smile of a child, a hug? Have you stopped to watch the branches of a tree sway in the wind, or a child in the playground? Have you really listened to the song of a bird, or ate your meal slowly, savoring each bite? Have you noticed how often God touches your life with just the simple things?
What has moved you today to praise Him?
