Holidays at the cabin

It's Monday, July 4th at the cabin. The weather's been beautiful this weekend, and we've had a great time.
We came up on Friday. One of the first things we did was rearrange the furniture. You see, this stereo cabinet used to be under the window. After Percy jumped up on it about 6 times to see out the window, we decided to make some changes. So we moved the stereo here...

and we put the couch under the window. To our surprise, we like the new arrangement. And Percy loves the view out the window. As you can see, the cabin still needs to be finished but we enjoy being here.

On Saturday we put the boat in the water, and took Percy on his first boat ride around the lake.
When we got back to our dock, we had a great surprise. Jeff and Whitney were sitting on the dock - and Aaron and Graham were waiting in the cabin.
It was great fun having them up for the weekend. We played card games, ate good food, and spent a lot of time just relaxing.

The worst part of the weekend is saying goodbye. I can't believe how fast the time went. It seems like we can't wait for a holiday to come, and then before we know it, it's over.

I want to hold on to the weekend - to keep my kids here, to stay at the cabin with Craig... but that's not reality. We all have jobs to go back to, and my kids have their own lives to live.

So instead of holding on to the weekend, I will hold on to the precious memories, and hold on to the One who never leaves.
Thanks, God, for this weekend...for the freedom we enjoy in the US that we celebrate on July 4th...for family and friends...and for Your presence with me always.
